FIRST AID AT WORK (FAW) SYLLABUS

This is the advanced/comprehensive 3 day 'face to face'  First Aid at Work course with the syllabus set down by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This is a nationally and accredited Level 3 course and is valid for 3 years. Just prior to the expiry date, you can sit the 2 day Requalification course (FAWR). 


This 3 day course is also available as a blended learning course


Topics on the FAW course Include

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • CPR and defibrillation
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty / Recovery Position
  • Choking
  • Burns and scalds
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Broken bones, fractures and dislocations
  • Seizures and Epilepsy
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • Stroke
  • Heart Attack
  • Minor injuries

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (EFAW)

This is a 'basic' entry level first aid course or for those working in a low risk environment  and is a 1 day course with the syllabus laid out by the HSE. 


As with the 3 day FAW, the qualification lasts 3 years and can also be completed as a blended learning course. 


On this course you will cover topics including:

  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • Assessing an incident
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR and defibrillation
  • Recovery Position
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Minor injuries
  • • Cuts, grazes and bruises
  • • Minor burns and scalds
